Rosemaling is a style of decorative painting on wood that uses stylized flower ornamentation, scrollwork, lining and geometric elements, often in flowing patterns. Rosemaling also common in Sweden, It’s called kurbits. Some lovely Dutch and Swedish designs have been added recently to this category. Rosemaling is a distinctly Norwegian form of decorative painting. Evolving in rural Norway, Rosemaling flourished in the late 1600’s through the mid-1800’s.
